The "Gospel" is simply the Good News of Jesus Christ. It is the message of salvation that is revealed to us through the Holy Bible. You see, humans were created and designed by God to have a personal and real relationship with Him. God also gave man the freedom to choose whether or not to obey and love God in return. However, because man sinned by disobeying and turning away from Him, we were separated from God and the relationship that God created us to have with Him was broken. This is because God is holy and just and cannot except or even tolerate sin. The good news is that despite the fact that we deserve punishment for our sins, God loves us and provided a way to reconcile our relationship with Him. God sent His Son Jesus to come to earth and take the punishment for our sins on the cross. Jesus died on the cross to pay for our sins so that we could be forgiven. Three days later, Jesus rose from the dead. The offer of salvation is still available to all those who are willing repent of their sins and accept Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. When we except Christ, we are forgiven of our sins and God promises to always be with us. He also promises that when we die, we will spend eternity with Him in Heaven. The Gospel is summed up in the brief words of John 3:16 which says: "For God so loved the world that He gave his only begotten Son that whosoever shall believe in Him will not perish, but have everlasting life."
